Can’t Miss: Traffic Los Angeles Pop-Up Shop at The Lumen Hotel Today

cantmiss-trafficIt’s total excitement overload at The Joule. First, Traffic’s men’s store stunned the crowd with its slick city styles. Then, we got to shop TenOverSix, which opened last week; peruse the coffee table book selection at sleek Taschen library; sniff the aromas stirred up by neighboring coffee house, Weekend (which opens later this month); and take a sneak preview tour of Espa, the hotel’s sexy underground spa, set to open in early June. Now, there’s even more to jump up and down about.

Impressively, Traffic Los Angeles, who hasn’t even opened their women’s shop yet, is already hosting a pop-up shop with merchandise marked down to 40 percent off. It’s happening today. Stop by The Lumen from 1 pm to 9 pm for complimentary sips, light bites, valet, and to shop discounted spring and summer collections from the likes of Dolce & Gabbana, Paul Smith, Iro, Comme des Garçons, Dsquared, Rick Owens, J Brand, and more.

Can’t Miss: Snake Oil/Factory Girl Launch on Saturday

Factory Girl/Snake Oil

Snake Oil/Factory Girl looks (photography, cropped, by Scogin Mayo)

Factory Girl just got cooler. The vintage shop, owned by husband and wife duo, photographer Scogin Mayo and stylist Heather Mayo, have upped their art game again. In addition to the racks of vintage designer gems, rotating art exhibits, and updated online store with Mayo’s beautiful photography, the team has partnered with local, multi-media artist Lizzy Wetzel. The multimedium artist produces a collection of “small hand made totems“ under the name, Snake Oil, a line of  felt sculptures and hand-dyed garments. The collaboration with Factory Girl introduces new hand-dyed tees, tunics, dresses, and kaftans in silk, bamboo, and cotton jersey, ranging from $75 to $450.

According to a press release, the color palette is influenced by the West Texas landscape, as Wetzel says she’s currently dyeing the collection in Marfa, where the desert colors lend a hand for inspiration.

The line hits the store floor at Factory Girl for the first time on Saturday, April 27 during the trunk show, where you’ll find 30-40 of the new, one-of-a-kind pieces displayed. (More will be available by order.) Both shop owners and Wetzle will be on hand to present the new line, and sangria will be served. Valet will be provided out front.

Where: Factory Girl
When: Saturday, April 27, noon to 6 pm

If You’re Heading to Elements Today…

…let us give you a sneak preview of what you’re going to see. We talked about today’s upcoming shoe trunk show at Elements on D: The Broadcast yesterday. Take a look:

Don’t forget to join us this Friday. We’ve partnered up with a trifecta of goodness: Elements boutique, Emy Mack shoes, and Blushington makeovers. You can stop by anytime between 1 pm and 6 pm for a glass of champagne, a quick beauty brush-up, and a chance to see designer Emily Jamison’s pretty heels in person. (Right now, they’re only sold online.) It doesn’t hurt that Elements is currently hosting a sale, either. This dress is 40 percent off. IJS.

Join Us for Emy Mack Shoes, Blushington Makeovers, and Cocktails at Elements

Emy MackThree of my favorite things will be under one roof on Friday, April 19. Before you began your weekend adventures, head over to Elements to get a makeup touch-up, courtesy of the artists at Blushington, and to browse the pretty shoes in Emy Mack trunk show.

Hosted by yours truly, this champagne reception runs all afternoon, so you can pop in for a late lunch break or toast with us before your evening begins. We’ve already told you how much we love the beautifully crafted Emy Mack shoes by SMU grad Emily Jamison and trust the skilled artists at Blushington Beauty Lounge. Here’s the perfect chance to check out both in one stop.

It’s Official: Traffic at the Joule is Open (Well, the Men’s Side)

Head over to Traffic immediately. It opened today and there are cocktails being served tonight.

The new LA-based shop has it’s men’s store open for business, and quite frankly, it’s killer. The store is gorgeous, with a dark, industrial palette and warm wood, and a curated batch of merchandise that will have men who love to dress drooling. I was drooling as co-owner Michael Moldovan (his counterpart is wife, Sara) walked me around showing off his exclusive lines ands their flawless craftsmanship thinking, Okay, if I bring this to my tailor, how I get this to fit?

Opening later this spring are the women’s store and Comme des Garçons PLAY store.

Freak Out! The Man Repeller Comes to Neiman Marcus NorthPark in Dallas!

Leandra Medine in Man Repeller x PJK and two looks (photography courtesy of Man Repeller x PJK)

I heart Leandra Medine, fashion guru behind The Man Repeller, but who doesn’t? Let’s all jump up and down now because she’s coming to Dallas to visit Neiman Marcus NorthPark Wednesday, March 6, and maybe we can fawn over and profess our love for her, I mean, meet her. In celebration of her capsule collection with PJK, she and the NM gang invite you to come have a drink, peruse the clothing, and you know, stare in awe at her hopefully extra man-repelling ensemble. And because I can’t say it any more Man Repeller-y than it is on the invite:

So mark your calendar for Wednesday, March 6, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Neiman Marcus NorthPark in Cusp on Level One and RSVP to rsvpnorthpark@neimanmarcus.com.

Champagne at Cupcakes at Thrift Kitten Grand Opening Party

Thrift Kitten Dallas

There’s still a void in my soul from the closing of Ahab Bowen, but my heart is open and willing to love anew. I’m looking forward to shopping the scene at new Thrift Kitten (update: now named Mieux & Mieux) on Boll Street. Owned and operated by local gal Kelsey McLain, the store offers “new and gently loved brand name women’s clothing and accessories.” I suggest you make a post-work pit stop this Friday for champagne, cupcakes, and a storewide 10 percent discount. To RSVP, text 214-886-1377.

Ultimate Dallas Girls’ Night at Demerara Tonight (i.e. Shopping, Booze, Fake Lashes, and Spray Tans)

We like Demerara in West Village, but it’s not where you go for something understated. It’s more like your one-stop shop for tight cocktail dresses, bead-adorned blouses, and bling. (Like this fully loaded, head-to-toe emerald sequin dress, which is kind of awesome.) So, it makes perfect sense that they’re hosting this all-out girls’ night at the boutique this evening, which includes flashy beauty stations, like discounted botox by Dr. Naila Malik, $20 spray tans and discounted lash extension appointments by the Lash Studio, complimentary makeup touch-ups and brow shaping by YSL makeup artist Brandy Blair, and hair consultations and styling by Salon Pompeo. Then, of course, there’s the shopping. Grab a cocktail and enjoy 30 percent off all regularly priced items and 70 percent off everything on sale. This girls night is poised to be a total glam fest.

On My Love List: Virgins Saints & Angels Dragon Crown

photography courtesy of Virgins, Saints, and Angels

Because I’m obsessed with royal history, because I went to see Snow White and the Huntsman twice in a row when it came out, because I’m just a little (or maybe a lot) Gothic at heart, and for, about, one million other reasons, I love the newest Virgins Saints & Angels collection, inspired by ABC’s Once Upon a Time, at SWAG. The collection full of crystal pendants, ornate hair pins and and combs, and cocktail rings, is elaborate, whimsical, and okay, a tad bit silly. (There are spider cuffs and dagger earrings.) But hand over that Dragon Crown (see above), and I swear I will wear it nonstop. Like, when I’m Swiffering and stuff. (It’s only $450.) If you want to check out the full Once Upon a Time collection and meet the designer, Cheryl Finnegan, head over to SWAG this Thursday, February 7, from 4 pm to 7 pm for cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and snapshots of you adorned in these jewels.

Sip & Shop (Read: Chug and Clear Racks) on Lovers Lane Tonight

A handful of our very favorite shops (Hemline, Lou Lou, Elle by Elements, Elements, Mine, and LA Connection) are in cahoots this evening to bring you their Sip & Shop event. Find complimentary wine at each store and hours extending until 7 pm.

Jane and Judy Aldridge, Anine Bing, Cocktails, and Holiday Shopping at Elements on Thursday

Anine Bing designs, left, and Jane of Sea of Shoes in Anine Bing, right

Thursday is going to be a good night. As per usual in Dallas, there are several great things happening, but first, there’s this killer party happening at Elements. Jane and Judy Aldridge (of Sea of Shoes and Atlantis Home, respectively) will be hosting Anine Bing, Danish singer/model-turned designer and her collection of effortlessly cool tees, motorcycle jackets, leather leggings, studded ankle boots, and wrap bracelet accessories. (You may have seen a couple of her designs on Jane back in October, top right.) If this doesn’t already sound too cool for school, let’s throw in Jane DJing as Paris Vidal, free snacks and cocktails, and, of course, access to shop the entire store with wild abandon (and buzz-fueled guiltlessness.)

Pencil This In: Sussie’s Annual Holiday Bash

The holidays are here, which means cooler weather, lots of shopping for those on your nice list, and hopefully a holiday party or two. Whether you’re shopping for yourself or looking for a gift, you should add Sussie’s Annual Holiday Bash to your list of places to stop for a few reasons:

1. The clothing includes some of our favorite lines, like Milly, Haute Hippie, Trina Turk.
2. The in-house shoe boutique, El’s Stilettos.
3. Sussie’s owner Rory Boyd just told me that purchases will be tax free all day.
4. Every $50 you spend, you’ll get you an entry into their raffle, where you could win prizes like a handbag, coat, or Sussie’s gift card.

Need another reason to stop by Sussie’s next Thursday? They will be serving up light bites cocktails all day long.
