If you’re still looking for last-minute gifts, be sure to stop by Forty Five Ten today to meet the local designer and check out her 18K collection from noon to 8 P.M.
ShuAddikt, a new local company catering to—you guessed it!—shoe addicts, is hosting an event on Thursday that just might be worth missing the finale of Celebrity Rehab 2. For one thing, you could win the Daker heels by Betsey Johnson pictured at left. You can also expect free appetizers, a display of ShuAddikt’s hard-to-find designer offerings, and a small parting gift. If you’d like to attend Stilettos & Sushi—it’s 6-10 pm at Fuse—RSVP to events@shuaddikt.com. You don’t have to let ’em know you’re coming, but those who do will be entered twice to win the Betsey Johnsons.
From Friday through Sunday, get 20 percent off exotic leather handbags and accessories at the Beretta Gallery holiday trunk show. Firearms aren’t included in the deal, but you can get this purple crocodile purse, for example, as well as other high-end ostrich and lizard goods such as belts, briefcases, and more. If you need a few more animal skins in your life, be sure and swing by Highland Park Village this weekend, but don’t tell Natalie Portman. It might not sit well right about now.
This weekend (starting tomorrow) is a good time to get out and shop if you can. Stock up on great gifts and treat yourself to something chic but cheap while you’re at it. Here are a few we have on our radar. Feel free to let us know about others Talkers shouldn’t miss out on!

Designer and boutique owner, Matthew Earnest will debut his 1930’s-inspired spring 2009 women’s line, Sartel at a trunk show tomorrow from 4PM- 7PM at V.O.D. Get there early and then hop over to LFT for some great deals, as the store closing (we’re still really bitter about this) sale continues, with 40%-80% off everything (but happy about this) in the store.
Hats are a must-have accessory this season. If you’re anything like me (I have a rather small head), finding the proper fitting topper can be quite an ordeal. However, there is an answer. Local and talented milliner Cassie MacGregor (whom we profiled in our September issue) will be at V.O.D. tonight from 6 P.M. - 9 P.M. showing her fall line (both men’s and women’s) and to do custom hat fittings. It’s “First Thursday” at Victory Park, so all shops will be open late and drinks will be served. Get out there and grab a cocktail and a fedora!
Kid Biz in Preston Center will be having a Jon Hart trunk show tomorrow from 11am-5pm. This Houston-based luggage and handbag line, has something for everyone - suitcases, sports and outdoor bags, backpacks, totes and travel accessories. Many items come in several colors like basic black, ocean blue, fuschia, camouflage, burgandy and many others. So no more grabbing the wrong bag at the luggage carousel! And no risk that someone else will accidentally take yours! The best part of the trunk show is that monogramming and shipping on bags and accessories will be free starting tomorrow through Saturday, November 8th. Click on the Kid Biz link above for details and to check out which Jon Hart styles are available in the store. Drinks and refreshments will be served too! Let the holidays begin!
In celebration of Partners Card week, which Sarah already told you about, Occhiali Modern Optics is holding four trunk shows of fabulous designer eyewear. Today until 5 p.m.—you still have a few hours!—check out the complete collections from David Yurman and Alain Mikli. Then tomorrow from 11 am to 5 pm, it’s Tom Ford and Cavalli. A highlight for Saturday’s show: the Tom Ford 007 sunglasses worn by Daniel Craig in the new James Bond flick Quantum of Solace. I’ve never seen a James Bond movie in my life, and I have no idea what “quantum of solace” means, but Daniel Craig? I know about him. Uh huh, I sure do.
Exhale Spa’s got it right with this event: “Get Your Rear In Gear.” I love breathing in Child’s Pose, stretching in the Downward Facing Dog, aligning my chakras, and all that jazz, but let’s get to the point. What I really need is a firmer tush to get me through the fall season’s best pants. On Wednesday, October 22, the spa is teaming up with experts from the Blues Jean Bar to provide us with a wealth of knowledge—and goodies. The class will teach techniques for shaping and toning the lower body. The Blues Jean Bar pros will tell us about the latest and greatest trends and styles. The spa will send us off with a gift bag full of Exhale Spa product samples and coupons to the Blues Jean Bar. And the whole thing’s FREE. Enjoy! The BJB trunk show starts at 9 am. The class begins at noon. To register, go to www.exhalespa.com/locations/dallas or call 214-370-5800.
Stanley Korshak will be having a Peter Som trunk show tomorrow and Thursday. Style.com calls his line “fresh and appealingly ladylike” and I have to agree. The blue he uses in the spring 2009 collection is just beautiful and the muted beige tones are light and breezy. I’m always interested in lines that have clothes that will work on curvy bodies and this collection looks like it has a lot to choose from. Call a Korshak sales associate for an appointment at 214-871-3626.

On Thursday and Friday, September 25th and 26th the Goss-Michael Foundation will be hosting a vintage couture trunk show put on by PinkMemo.com and Manhattan’s RARE Vintage. Get your cowgirl on at the Heritage Boot Trunk Show set for Saturday, September 13, from 10 am to 6 pm at The Gypsy Wagon. If you haven’t yet paid a visit to this funky and charming tattoo parlor-turned-boutique, this is a fine opportunity to do so. The Austin boot makers will be on location for one day only showing off their newest designs. But before you go, be sure and check out the Heritage Boot website. If you see a particular style that you just have to have, e-mail Carley at the Wagon (carley@the-gypsy-wagon.com), and she’ll be sure they bring your size. Giddy-up, girls!
