It feels like only yesterday we were celebrating the launch of our street style fashion blog, StyleSheet. But it’s hasn’t. It’s been a whole year. And you know what that means? You got it. PAR-TY. So let’s do this. Scratch out tomorrow night’s plans and pencil in StyleSheet’s one-year anniversary fête in Neiman Marcus NorthPark’s Cusp boutique. Join us tomorrow, August 15, from 6 pm to 9 pm for cocktails and birthday wishes to StyleSheet and its fabulous photogs, Kristi and Scot Redman. Details here. RSVP here.
If our Party Pics gallery full of stylish DIFFA attendees and runway shots didn’t satisfy you, check out StyleSheet’s backstage look at the glorious details.
Colorful jeans are everywhere. I mean everywhere. You want jewel tones? You want neons? You want pastels? You want classic white? You won’t have to go far to get your paws on a pair. The trick is figuring out how to wear them so you don’t look like Peter Pan. Take a cue from StyleSheet’s brightest street models on the chicest way to wear colored denim.
(top row) You can keep it simple and go with basic white, black, and neutral accessories or get a bit edgy with booties in back (middle). Hadleigh’s owner Ed Sheik makes white jeans look dapper with a blue suit jacket and slippers (far left). Looking to try the colorblock trend? Follow this guy’s lead (center right) and add bright sneakers. I’m a fan of the all white look (bottom right) that’s been made a little splashy with colorful accessories (think tribal).
Our suggestions of best shops in Dallas for your denim hunt:
REUSE Jeans: Colorful jeans are the specialty here. Find pastels like lavender and mint for spring and neons like yellow and coral for summer in several different styles.
Target: (that’s right) We’re following Kendi’s lead and checking out the colorful collection at Target. Expect magenta, green, purple, and more.
Blues Jean Bar: Our favorite place to by classic blues is carrying fuchsia, yellow, orange, peaches, emerald, bright purple, plum, and white, too.
Studio Sebastian: In typical sophisticated style, Studio Sebastian is keeping it chic with coral, on-trend tangerine, blush, and gray. Expect more options this summer.
Epic Apparel: This West Village denim hot spot is serving delicious pairs in pastels, tangerine, green, purple, blue, key lime, and even paisley and floral prints.
Turtletique: The newly revamped Inwood Village boutique is carrying a slew of hues including clean white, hot pink, trendy turquoise, lime green, and coral.
Mal Malouf: Always on-trend in the Plaza at Preston Center, it’s no surprise she’s got the bright jean beat covered with hot pink, coral, aqua, royal blue, green, and a floral printed gold. More are arriving this week.
The Gypsy Wagon: Even more are expected for summer, but to tide you over, grab pairs in red, white, rust (sounds amazing!), and green.
The world looks so cool through the StyleSheet photographers’ eyes. Ali Burks, stylist at Blinc boutique, doesn’t need help looking cool, but I love the quick photo shoot of her and the store. I asked the our street style photogs, Kristi and Scot Redman, for the outtakes just for you. (Okay, and for me.) Enjoy.

So dapper. I’ll take one of each these guys. I mean suits.
On September 24, The Fashionistas’ Runway Series sent local designer Elizabeth Anyaa’s beautiful, textural collection down the catwalk. Models strutted their stuff with perfect ponytails wrapped in custom-made cords, and StyleSheet posted gorgeous post-event photos. I nearly died. Those. Ponytails. I knew I wanted one immediately. So, with a little, help I tracked down the lead stylist, Devon Faldon, director of education at Toni&Guy, and we prepared a little how-to video. That neat, sexy, futuristic looking ponytail earned me about a dozen compliments from strangers at the Jean Paul Gaultier Donor Circle reception party Wednesday night. I’ll be rocking the look again. Now it’s your turn to try it.
Don’t love heavy cord for the embellishment? What about a more subtle black lace? See below. The options are endless.
Devon used: Bed Head Masterpiece Shine Hairspray, Bed Head Headrush Shine Spray, S-Factor Creamy Molding Wax, and Denman boar bristle brush.
(Find the lotions and potions at TIGI salons locally and the brush online.)

I love the look of a basic black tank paired with colorful accessories. Much like this look on StyleSheet (see above). Duplicate the look by throwing on your top and heading to new shop Shoe Envy. Make your way to the back of the boutique to shop the wall of scarves in a plethora of colors and prints. Next, hit up the jewelry counter for colorful wrap watch cuffs from La Mer. Boom. Done.
I love the southern hippie looks featured on StyleSheet’s House of Plates 1 post this morning. In particular, I have a style crush on that sweet thing in glasses and bangs, wearing the shirt dress, vest, and cowgirl boots. I especially love her long earrings, which has reminded me of the super cheap selection of long earrings over at Movida in Mockingbird Station. I found a handful of priced at $12 to $14 just last week. See photo above for a few pairs.
Check StyleSheet regularly and you’ll see sometimes the best view of an outfit is the back. (Check their shots of this dress with a lace cutout and this open-back chain vest.) We love the look, so we found some examples around town. Check out our roundup of dresses and tops with interesting back sides and get to shopping.
Jump for the rest.
Today you can go spy a sheer polka dot blouse on StyleSheet, but that’s not the only place to find sheer tops these days. You can see them all over celebrities, stylists, and models this summer. I’ve rounded up a few picks for you from all over town. Jump for a few favorites.
StyleSheet’s featuring this funky, chunky monkey (well, gorilla) ring. I happen to know where to buy it. Get yours here.
As if we didn’t already bring you enough glorious coverage of all things you must do, eat, see, drink, know, hear, and buy in Dallas, we’d like to introduce you to our newest blog, where we show you what to wear.
