A former GiltCity employee has confirmed the sad news. I’ll admit the sales on GiltCity Dallas didn’t always blow my skirt up, but there were, on occasion, some steals. Don’t worry, though; the warehouse sale is still on.

I will fill every room in my house with these beautiful foreign fixtures.

Both the Dallas and McKinney locations of Another Time & Place are closing their doors, but don’t be too sad. Plano’s staying open. No, we won’t be able to find the chunky cocktail rings, exotic necklaces, Middle Eastern candle holders up the street, but if we hop in the car and head north for a few, we’ll be reunited with the rows of colorful cloth cowboy boots, Turkish Suzanis, and odds and ends from far, far away again. In the meantime, shop the soon-t0-be-gone stores, which are completely on sale at 60 percent off through the end of the year. I recommend perusing the amazing jewelry collection. Baubles in every color–turquoise, magenta, green, purple, whatever–fabric handbags, and rock bracelets with cool stones. Jump for my favorite finds today.

Michael Longcrier, owner of Uptown vintage shop Ahab Bowen, has confirmed the sad news. The pillar of vintage shopping in Big D will make its final sale in the cozy cottage at the end of the day on July 30. Even former mayor Laura Miller has called the shop “a Dallas institution,” according to Michael, and it’s true. We’ll really miss trying on all the full skirts, band tees, and jackets (oh, how I love the jacket rack), perusing the funky assortment of shoes and hats, and the room full of chunky costume jewelry. There is a silver lining, however. Everything in the shop is 25 percent off right now, and the floor is still being restocked daily. Come Monday, everything will be 50 percent off. There might even be a warehouse selling off the rest of the merchandise in the future, but stay tuned. Until then, we’ll see you soon, Ahab Bowen, to stock up on some vintage gems to remember you by.

*Update: A reader asked for the reason the store is closing: Michael told me after three years without seeing much profit, the store was becoming more of a hobby than a business. It’s financial, folks.

My favorite funky jewelry boutique on Henderson is closing its doors. The last day of business for The Shining is next Saturday, May 7. According to the owner, Victoria Tollemache, the traffic just wasn’t enough to sustain our beloved shop. As usual, we find the silver lining in the deeply discounted leftover merchandise. Head in now to find the goods on serious sale.

We are designers more than anything, as the business grew bigger we were going further away from what love to do best…

We had to make the decision to be 100% focused as designers…In order to do that, we will be closing our store location at the shops at willow bend & moving back to New York to create a better collection with a more inspired & refreshed mind.

In conjunction with the new, modern face of Turtletique, merchandise assortments have been tweaked. Shoes have been added including Donald Pliner, Stuart Weitzman, Isola, and Andree Assous. Turtletique is  known for fashionable work attire, casual “lifestyle” sportswear and special occasion apparel. Collections, many exclusive to the store, include European standouts Marc Cain, Apriori, Luisa Cerano, Javier Simorra, a brand new JS collection that is younger and more contemporary; Ambiente and Marc Aurel. A sampling of American designers includes Lafayette 148, Yansi Fugel, Chan Luu and Finley shirts, which is local.

Looking forward to the new version, which is supposed to open doors March 4.

Update: Barneys’ receptionist says these rumors are “not true.” But I’m waiting for a call back from the store’s manager.
