Try Stanley Korshak. A sale is happening right now, which shaves 30 to 40 percent off all kinds of ultra luxe goodies. VBH handbags and shoes designed by everyone from Cynthia Vincent to Christian Louboutin are just the ticket to say, “Hey, Mom. Thanks for sticking around when I was an unbearably bratty pre-teen.” Men’s stuff is on sale, too, so if you feel like getting ahead of the curve and grabbing something for Father’s Day, we’ll remove “slacker” from your name.
Think Stanley Korshak is the best spot for men’s and women’s designer clothing? Vote for them now in our Best of Big D readers’ choice survey!
Yes, I just blogged about this on BridalBuzz because it’s a perfect bridesmaid gift idea. But! There are other special ladies in our lives, aren’t there? So I wanted to share the idea with you ShopTalkers, too. Mother’s Day is around the corner, and if you’re like me, you’re getting to the age where you know more moms than just your own – sisters, best friends, etc. Paper & Chocolate is hosting a graphic image trunk show as well as offering a free line of monogram imprinting on fun trinkets such as luggage tags and address books. They’re fun spring colors, but they’re a perfectly useful gift, which we all love. Hurry in, though, because the trunk show and imprinting special end Monday!
The spa at the magnificent Stoneleigh is hosting a Mother’s Day Twitter contest. This contest requires a retweet from your account on Twitter. If your eyes just glazed over, move on to other posts. For Tweeters, or however you would say it, here’s the 411. The prize is a $100 gift certificate. (The idea is to hand it over to your momma, but I mean, technically, who would know?) To win, Twitter followers must retweet the contest information—which can be found here—to be entered to win. Good luck!
Ps. Remember when we told you about the Spa at the Stonleigh’s Spa Week special? (Reminder: It was a 45-min massage and warm oil scalp treatment for $50.) Well, they’re extending their spa week specials through this Sunday, April 25. It will also include a $50 “Peaches Ice Cream Pedicure” if you so choose. Make your reservations. 469-375-5855 or reservations@stoneleighhotel.com
Remember all of the family portraits your mom “forced” your family to take growing up? Or maybe you have a sibling who is obsessed with taking a family pic at every. single. get-together. (Guilty, myself. These are memories, people!) Anyway, here’s my point: the Facelogic Spas in Highland Park and Fort Worth have a fun little deal going on May 1 - May 8. Any mom who brings in a family photo receives a free microdermabrasion treatment. It’s that simple! The owners of these two salons – that’s the Highland Park owner Faryn Clark at left, with her almost-too-precious fam - wanted to treat mothers of Dallas to some much-deserved relaxation therapy this Mother’s Day. So spread the word to moms across Dallas who have a family photo on hand. It shouldn’t be a difficult feat.
We love our mom. She works hard, as do all other mommies. (We especially admire our friends who are currently nurturing newborns. How do they keep it together?) Which is why we suggest picking up the phone right this minute and calling the Spa at the Ritz-Carlton, which is offering an evening of complimentary spa services on May 5, from 5-7 pm. This pre-Mother’s Day treat includes mini-makeovers, one-minute manicures, a virtual tour of the spa, and take-home spa goodies. All you need to do is call 214-922-4820 to be one of the 75 lucky ladies. Or make your mom’s day and book the reservation for her.
Show some love to Mother Earth this Mother’s Day. James Avery has partnered with Andy Jones, director of the nonprofit Conservation Fund’s Texas operations, to help protect the state’s land and water resources through the sale of a specially designed pendant, the Tree of Promise. The pendant depicts a tree inspired by the majestic Cedar of Lebanon, known throughout history for its beauty, strength and endurance. Now through October 31, 2009, the Texas-based jeweler will donate 50% of the pendant sales to The Conservation Fund. Available in sterling silver and priced at $80, it makes a great gift for mother’s day for all of you last-minute shoppers. Pick one up today at one of their many locations in the Dallas area.
The lovely people at The Write Selection have done the work for me and sent some ideas for Mom that are particularly pocketbook-friendly. First up, Gloveables–kind of like those worn my my favorite British cleaning team, Kim and Aggie, from BBC’s How Clean Is Your House–for $17.50. Or, if you’re not deliberately trying to encourage Mom to clean, perhaps you could encourage her to relax with a spa gift set by Sonoma Lavender, complete with spa mittens and booties, neck rolls, back pillows and bath salts, for $40-$50. And, of course, Write Selection has, um, the right selection of stationery and notecards for mothers who love to write a good thank you note.
This just landed in my in box: four Mother’s Day packages from Aqua Medical Spa, in all price ranges. If you’re on a budget–and Mom is always supportive when we are–you can get her the Quick-Fix Mom package with express pore purifying facial and express stress buster massage (50 min) for $99. For $51 more, you can treat her to a vitamin C antioxidant facial and deep tissue massage (100 min). If money is no object, Mom will surely thank you for the Refreshed Mom package, which includes Botox (two areas), Juvederm (two syringes), vitalize peel, and Zoom! teeth whitening for $1,945. If you think your mom deserves the latter, I suggest you hit up dad for some cash. IJS.
Buying a woman an exercise package as a gift is tricky. Either she’ll hate you (do you think I’m fat?) or she’ll love you for giving her the jump-start she needed. That said, purchase at your own risk. However, these programs, designed for new moms and moms-to-be, are pretty cool. Vert. Fitness and Wellness Center–which we wrote about in the current issue of D Beauty–is offering MomFit Workouts, including Mom & Baby Programs and MomToBe Pre Natal Fitness, which cater to the needs of new moms and pregnant women. That means a regimen designed specifically to whip your post-baby body into shape, plus they can make childcare arrangements if need be. For moms-to-be, Vert has trainers with pre- and post-natal certifications. These MomFit packages have been discounted for Mother’s Day, which means three months at the studio, fitness assessment, and 10 specially designed programs for $700 (a discount of $25 per session).
We often tell you about specials at Zen Luxury Nail & Beauty Bar in Frisco, a 2008 D Beauty Award winner. Well, this time you need to share the love with your mom, because Zen is offering complimentary Sprinkles cupcakes, champagne, and truffles (while supplies last) now through Mother’s Day (May 10). And you can get a Heavenly upgrade with purchase of two Ultimate Zen or Eternal Zen mani/pedi packages. That’ll save you $24-$30–and don’t you think Mom is worth it?
Because I’m on the Mother’s Day beat, I wanted to share with you dear ShopTalkers another mom-friendly spa deal. At Corinthian Wellness Spa in Southlake (a 2009 D Beauty Award winner), you can treat your mama to high tea (for a $25 add-on) then pamper her with one of four special Mother’s Day packages. The Relax Mom package ($120) includes a foot soak, a Beauty Blitz Facial, and a Mini Zen massage. The Restore Mom package ($150) includes a foot soak, a Collagen Facial, and a Peppermint Scalp Massage. The Rejuvenate Mom package ($153) includes a foot soak, a Dragonfly Dreams Massage, and Harmony Restore Reflexology. And the Queen for a Day package ($228) includes a foot soak, a Corinthian Custom Massage, and a Corinthian Organic Facial. Although Queen for a Day does sound nice, I recommend the Restore Mom deal. I’ve had that Collagen Facial, and it is awesome. And, at $150, the package is smartly priced.
