Blushington Makeup and Beauty Lounge, the LA-based $40 makeover spot, is scheduled to open its doors on Saturday, December 15 at the Shops at Highland Village.
At Haus of Beauté. Kristin and I checked out the one-stop beauty spot across the universe in Richardson last week. I’ll let you read Kristin’s recap.
The Susan Posnick cosmetic line just launched at Neiman Marcus, and already, the founder is visiting town to hang out at her newest counter. Susan will be offering makeup tips and offering consultations and applications during her visit on Friday. Plus, if you spend $55 during the event, you’ll get a travel sized Colorflo shimmery sunblock and a mini Kabuki brush. Friday, Sept. 17 from 12 pm to 4 pm at Neiman Marcus. Hello, better lunchbreak.
By midday, my morning makeup has already begun to lose its luster. Stop by Melanie Gayle on your break this Thursday and let a pro freshen you up for free! The Lash Bash Event offers complimentary makeovers and eyelashes from a Mary Kay makeup artist. After you’re done, take advantage of the 20 percent off discount on all regularly priced merch in the store. We didn’t need another reason to love Melanie Gayle, but we’ll take it. No appointments needed, just come on by to the Snider Plaza location. Thursday, May 27 from 12 pm to 3 pm.
Don’t remember? (Hint: free makeup tips.)
From now (actually started April 1) through Saturday, April 10, when you spend $100 at the beauty counters of Korshak, you’ll receive a nautical-inspired totebag with all kinds of cosmetic samples. You’ll see a little Chanel, La Prairie, Lancome, Susan Posnick, and more. I usually don’t jump for joy at a promise of beauty samples (I mean, they usually only last for three-or-so uses, which isn’t enough to ensure the product is worthy to me), but as the warm weather arrives and travel ensues, samples are like gold. Make an appointment now for a free makeover, too. (And trust me, I’ve seen the makeover work that can be done at Stanley Korshak–it’s like gold, too.)
Haven’t been to Stanley Korshak? Here’s why you should go.
Yes, profile picture. As in, like, Facebook profile photo. Or MySpace default. Or Twitter thumbnail. Whatever. You get the point. Do you spend too much time cropping yourself from a group photo where your arms don’t look fat and your lip gloss looks just right? (Guilty, obviously.) Then let Estée help create the best one you’ve ever had. Head to the Macy’s Galleria Estée Lauder Saturday, April 10, and a makeup artist will make you over—“sultry” for a dating profile or “clean” and “chic” for a professional photo—and take a professional picture, of which you’ll receive a hard copy and an email attachment. And it’s all free. The event is called “Your Beauty. Your Style. Your Profile.” (They should call it “Your Beauty. Your Style. Better E-Harmony Results.”) Either way, we’ll see you at the counter Saturday. Make an appointment, though, to ensure you get in. 214-295-1258
Stop in Sephora Galleria this weekend and take away a few free tips and tricks of the trade from Stila pro, Sarah Lucero. Get the details.
And what would a party be without snacks, cocktails, and party favors? Complimentary food and wine will be served at along with free makeup consultations with the Jane Iredale mineral line (a favorite of mine). A raffle will include Botox, Latisse, Juvederm, facials, hair removal, and products from skincare lines offered at Reflections. Party-goers will also get discounts on all the services offered at the med spa. Tomorrow, April 1 from 5 pm to 7:30 pm at Reflections Medical Spa.
Stop in Uptown Makeup this weekend with a friend and get your face fixed up nice for free. In-house makeup artists will treat you to the newest products from Smashbox, Too Face, and Nouba, a professional line that, as far as I know, is sold exclusively at Uptown Makeup in Dallas. Plus, what would be a Sunday chick-fest without glasses of champagne? Grab some complimentary bubbly and test the trendiest cosmetic looks. To set up an appointment, email mara@shopuptownmakeup.com or call 214-521-3501. Saturday, March 20. 10 am to 7 pm.
Aside from weddings, what’s a better excuse to have your makeup professionally done than a hot V-Day date? Exactly. There are none. With that said, head on over to Uptown Makeup this weekend for their Valentine’s Makeover Event, featuring makeovers (obv.) and Valentini’s. While there is a two product minimum purchase with each makeover, trust us… they’ve got such a great selection, it’ll be hard to stick to just two. Saturday from 10 am-7pm and Sunday 1pm-6pm. Email mara@shopuptownmakeup.com to make an appointment.
Need I say more? Well, I guess I should give you the when and where. Uptown Makeup is hosting a snazzy event this Saturday, Jan. 23, at 10 a.m. Appropriately titled “Look a 10 in ’10,” the party offers a look at the latest goodies from Smashbox, Nouba, Too Faced, and many more. I love all of these brands, but I’ll be honest: they had me at free makeovers and drinks.
DeNovo salon and med spa is hosting a spa event tomorrow, Wednesday, December 2. (Can you believe it’s already December?) Staff members will be handing out 20 percent off cards for all med spa services. (The list of treatments includes Botox, Zerona, Microdermabrasion, photofacials, laser hair removal, etc.) Unfortunately, it doesn’t work with the plastic surgery menu at deNovo, so you can’t take 20 percent off your boob job. But you CAN use the card for hair and skin treatments, too, which include facials, massages, manis and pedis, waxing, and then the usual gamut of hair treatments from cuts and styling to coloring and updos. At the event you’ll be able to grab a drink and a plate of food and sit down with staff plastic surgeons, hair stylists, and aestheticians for free consultations, too. Then enter your name in the raffles for a shot at winning services and products. The event takes place from 5 pm to 8 pm tomorrow. deNovo. 2603 Oak Lawn, Suite 100. 214-219-4100 or www.denovospa.com.
As part of the Station’s Cause for Celebration line-up (“community-oriented events every Wednesday evening during the holidays”), Pamper Yourself Night will feature mini-facials, massages, and hand massages, free with a donation to Genesis Women’s Shelter. The masseurs will be lined up near PURE Dental. (If you choose to pay for a teeth whitening special during the evening, PURE will also donate a portion of the proceeds to Genesis.) Billy Jealousy reps will also be at PURE for the mini-facials. The hand massagers will be located at Michael Raymond Salon, where you can also get make-up touch-ups, some hot chocolate or tea, and a free Aveda shampoo sample with a $5 donation. It’s a night full of minis, but your donation can be mini, too.
My sister is looking for a new foundation–in powder form–and she wants to stick to the drugstore scene. I must admit, I haven’t used a drugstore foundation in a while. (I’m currently using a mix of MAC and Makeup For Ever.) ShopTalkers, I need your help! What are your favorite foundation products at your local Walgreen’s, grocery store, etc.?
