The products on my can't-wait-to-try list: Thermal Cleansing Balm, Gold Shimmer Oil, Copper Peel, and the Rose Lifting Serum (photography courtesy of Omorovicza)
The best way to find out if a beauty product is right for you is by getting all the details from the mastermind behind its creation. That’s why I love beauty promotions like the upcoming Omorovicza event at Neiman Marcus Willow Bend. (Pronounced o-more-o-veet-sa, FYI.) This Wednesday, February 29, the beauty brand’s founder, Margaret de Heinrich de Omorovicza will be making an appearance and offering one-on-one skin consultations when you purchase any two products. Your new beauty buy also earns you a complimentary 50-minute Hungarian facial on-the-spot. If you spend $175 (which won’t be hard to do with prices between $75 and $150), you’ll get a goodie bag full of travel size samples (which, in my opinion, are more valuable than their full-sized sisters with TSA rules). Included you’ll find the Thermal Cleansing Balm, Deep Cleansing Mask, and Copper Peel. Make an appointment to reserve your spot: 972-629-1700. Oh, and you can start calling me Raya de Gabrielle de Ramsey.
When Super Yoga Palace hosts Twitter Sundays, it does. Owner Jessica Jordan heads up this weekly free yoga class each weekend at 1 pm. Follow @superyogapalace, who will Tweet the location and then hurry your buns over to catch a complimentary workout with Jessica instructing, live music, and a post-Down Dog brunch. Each event will vary based on location and “which cafes or bakeries we can connect with,” according to SYP. Take last Sunday, for example. Jessica led the stretching and posing to live indie rock spun by DJ Datahowler at Good Records. Mimosas were served afterward. Now that’s how yoga should be. Quickly now. Launch your Twitter (or join) and follow @superyogapalace to be in the loop.
If V Spa’s complimentary 25-minute facials don’t work for you on Wednesday, January 25, fear not. Apparently, Sonya Dakar experts are making a grand appearance at The Spa at the Stoneleigh on Monday, January 23. Meet Nate Dakar, son of famous aesthetician Sonya Dakar and president of the skincare company, and enjoy free mini facials, complimentary gifts, antioxidant cocktails, and a Sonya Dakar gift set when you make a $100 retail purchase. Happening January 23 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
This week, you have twice as many opportunities to get lucky. Regional Plastic Surgery Center & Spa is giving away two packages: a Micropeel Package and a Vivite Peel Package (Click the links to enter). You may enter both giveaways. Winners will be announced this Thursday, October 20th, so hurry and sign up!
MicroPeels encourage the exfoliation of dead skin cells while stimulating the skin’s natural renewal process. The MicroPeel solution is tailored to fit your individual skin type. MicroPeels are designed to refine skin texture damaged by environmental factors and skin conditions such as acne. The procedure assists in smoothing fine lines and evening out skin discoloration while reducing the appearance of acne scars and damage to the skin.
The benefits of Vivite Peel are increased hydration, improved overall clarity and smoothness of the skin, and reduction of the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Expect to see improvements in dry, rough textured, sun damaged, or dull looking skin. It works by accelerating the removal of the dry, damaged outer layer of skin delivering a high glycolic content to maximize results. The botanical antioxidants in the peel rapidly begin to heal and repair the skin.
Don’t forget that Regional Plastic Surgery Center is also having their annual Fall Beauty Event in Pink this Thursday, October 20th. Even if you don’t win a package, you can still get great discounts on some of the spa’s most popular procedures. And it’s all for a great cause! The $10 admission fee will go straight to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, so you can feel (and look) great inside and out.
Things that are cute with fall mini-dresses: sky-high heels, tights, and 7-pound puppies.
Things that are not cute with anything: mullets, barbecue stains, and excessive body hair.

This Donna Morgan Dress would not look near as fab if sister was sporting gorilla pits. (Available at Nordstrom)
Yep, I went there.
Shaving is so last season. So is paying for laser hair removal on a freelance writer’s salary. Luckily for you, this week, Regional Plastic Surgery Center is giving away a package of five laser hair removal treatments for your underarms or bikini line. Enter to win here.
If you’re already a hairless beauty, the folks at Regional Plastic Surgery will also be giving away Sensi Peels, Vivite Peels, and Micropeels for the next few weeks. Check back often for more details.
But if you’re unlucky like me, and have never won anything more than a game of checkers, you’ll be happy to know that you can also choose to pay for your procedures at a discounted rate. On October 20th, Regional Plastic Surgery Center & Spa will be hosting their annual Fall Beauty Event in Pink. Get the details here.
You’ll be a beauty (for less) in no time.
Pull a valentine from Hemline‘s basket, and you’ll get a free something. Options include a camisole, sunglasses, earrings, or Hanky Panky undies. A couple gift cards for $25 and $50 are floating around in that basket, too. The email blast says “no purchase required.” Sounds like a worthy stop to me. TODAY ONLY.
It’s cold, but maybe the thought of upcoming Super Bowl shopping specials will warm you up. Take Talulah Belle, for example. Between Thursday, February 3, and Sunday, February 6, when you spend $50 in Susan Posnick cosmetics, you’ll get a free lipstick from her line in “Dallas.” (See color, right.)
Today I’m giving away something that I’m not recommending you give away. Keep this for yourself. The Grace Eternal perfume is dainty and light, and feels like a breath of fresh air when you smell it. (Who doesn’t need that during this chaotic season?) The Big Skinny scrub is for exfoliating your winter alligator scales away (and for prepping for the next product). The Big Skinny sunless tanning cream is to give you a little color during these pale, pale months. This bundle is valued at about $90 and a great accessory to winter. Enter to win it here.
Are you tired of those damn Victoria’s Secret Bombshell commercials? Yeah, me too. I can tell you when I open a door to walk in a room with my bra and undies on, my hair does not start flipping in the breeze to intense electronic music. (Typically, what does happen, though, is I trip over my cat on the way to my t-shirt drawer. It’s very sexy.) On the other hand, it does not stop me from wanting to go shopping for new underwear and heels to impress someone. (Again, probably my cat.) Here’s a fun little opportunity to celebrate your bombshelliness (or to abolish your lack thereof). Victoria’s Secret is hosting Candice Swanepoel and Erin Heatherton (VS supermodels) and the VS team of makeup artists, in town from LA and NY, on Tuesday for the launch of the new Bombshell fragrance collection. The scent, which includes notes of passion fruit, grapes, peonies, vanilla, and pine, actually sounds worth making a lunch stop for. Plus, if you spend $40, you’ll turn into a supermodel. Just kidding. What will happen, though, is you’ll get autographs from the models, a makeover from a team artist, a quick shot of you to keep post-makeover, and a free t-shirt. It’s probably best if you call ahead to make an appointment—877-883-5794—but walk-ins will be welcomed. 12 pm to 2 pm at NorthPark. See you there, fully dressed.
Of course $50 at Neiman Marcus is like being given $1 to spend at Target, but hey, that’s okay. We’ll take free money any time. Buy anything from Women’s Contemporary Sportswear, Sport Shop, and Dress Collections, and get $50 off your purchase. (Things on sale don’t count.) You’ve got from this Friday, Sept. 24 to Sunday, Sept. 26 to use the card at the NorthPark location. Follow the jump to print it out.
Facelogic Spa is celebrating technological beauty breakthroughs today at its location on Lovers. In celebration of three cosmetic devices—ANSR:Beam, Galvanic Spa Instrument, and the Clarisonic Skincare Device—spa staffers are handing out free personal demonstrations with each gadget. (I’ve blogged about the ANSR system before. I loved it for acne treatment. I’ve been tested on with the Clarisonic brush, and it was an amazing exfoliator. Don’t know about the Galvanic piece, but I’m always game to be a beauty guinea pig.) While you’re there, grab a cocktail (Ty-Ku green tea and ginger ale, to be precise) and a complimentary skin consultation. (All on the house.) Plus, if you like any of the tools enough to make a purchase, you’ll get a 15 percent discount today. Appointments are preferred, but you won’t be shooed out the door if you walk in. “Devices, Demos, & Drinks” is happening now through 7:30 pm at Facelogic.
