Snakes, Black Diamonds, and Moody Jewels Abound on New Barbed Wire E-Shop

You know I was always swooning walking into Cicada Collection in Snider Plaza. No recognizable designers, no flashy colors; just beautifully made things in subtle color palettes with architectural, head-turning shapes. It was a one-of-a-kind shop. (Well, except for the Sante Fe location, which still stands.) Anyway, it closed, and I was sad to stop being introduced […]

Exclusively at Stanley Korshak: Ela Mirrored Rose Gold Studded Pouch

Stanley Korshak is now the exclusive purveyor of Ela handbags in Dallas. The line, a collaborative endeavor of wife and hubby, Ela and Martin Aldorsson, is a medley of simple, sophisticated bags with a just-right amount of trend. I am completely in a tizzy over the mirrored rose gold studded Editor’s pouch (see above). If you haven’t been bitten by the rose gold bug, you’ll surely be wooed by the clean, minimalistic look of the cream studded pouch or the edgy star-embossed black version. I want all three. And the price points aren’t mind-blowing. Editor’s pouches (about 11 inches long) ring up at $225; Senior Editor’s pouches (about 13 inches) ring up at $325 to $345.

Come Shop Pretty Floral Perfumes with Us on Friday at LAFCO New York

Highland Park Village’s LAFCO New York storefront is one of my favorite shops in town, and I am beyond delighted to be helping host their spring fragrance party this Friday, May 2. The petite apothecary stocks the shelves with their pretty house brand perfumes, candles, diffusers, soap bars, and new body creams and hand soaps; boutique fragrance collections; and very special Santa Maria Novella line, whose products have been hand-crafted in a Florentine monastery since 1221. Everything in this boutique smells magical.

Pop in anytime this Friday, grab a glass of bubbles, ditch your exhausted designer perfume, and pick a new signature scent. Perhaps a spring-friendly floral? I’ll be in the shop from 4 pm to 6 pm, in a state of aroma-induced bliss, loading up on my favorite things (namely, Santa Maria Novella colognes in violet and rose and everything in LAFCO’s Fleur de Baies scent of bayberry, rose, currant, and raspberry). If you settle on the perfect scent, you’ll receive a gift with purchase. If you don’t need anything for yourself, this is a gift-giver’s haven, and Mother’s Day is around the corner. But, really. Who couldn’t use a little luxury for herself? More details here.

A Few New Favorite Things: Sage Roll-On Perfume, Cozy Texas Tees, and Rose Balm

1. Ivy Kirshner’s “Roman” wedgie bootie at Elements. It’s like a sandal boot, which is ideal for Texas summer conditions: furnace outside, igloo inside. I love the enamel details on the harness. They come in black, too, but I hear the gives you legs for days.
2. Sage roll-on perfumes. If you’re taking a trip to Fredericksburg, pop into Root for these (and lots of other things you’ll need). The perfume collection, themed by birthstones, come in full bottles and prettily packaged roll-ons for stashing in handbags and giving as gifts. Try Pearl with mousse de chene, sandalwood, musk, and vanilla.
3. A Texas Home T. This butter-soft tee falls somewhere in a happy place on the Texas pride spectrum (not quite a flag tattoo on your ankle). No love for the Lonestar State? (Then get out.) You’ve got 49 other states to choose from, including a couple countries.
4. I wouldn’t call myself a Tory Burch girl–I don’t dig the heavy embellishment or prominent logo thing, but on her lipstick tubes, it’s perfect. The familiar orange covers the square container with the emblem stamped on top. It’s fun. Try Pas du Tout, her signature “perfect pinky nude” (couldn’t have said it better myself).
5. Aerin Lauder Rose Balm. They say 350 rose petals were used in the extraction process to make this silky balm. It comes in a pretty glass container with a gold lid, so it’s easy to leave on display. I use it on my nails and cuticles, lips, and around my eyes when I forget eye cream.
