Milan Fashion Week ended on a good note yesterday and according to WWD, buyers are happy with what they saw. Neiman’s Fashion Director and Senior VP, Ken Downing, told reporters:

“There was plenty to love in Milan this season with the amount of color and print. There’s much more of a focus on femininity, which our customers are always happy to see. There’s a lot of lace in Milan this season, some metallic. Transparencies look particularly beautiful when they are done in layers and leave something to the imagination. There’s also this sportif idea we saw in so many collections, with interpretations of leggings and shorts, bicycle shorts and anoraks. Shorts are becoming what the legging was for fall.”

Shorts seem to be a must-have item for Spring 2010, luckily designer’s showed them in all lengths (from super short to bermuda). I am loving all the fun prints, designers, such as Miuccia Prada did them in (like the beach-themed pair pictured above).

Went to Devi Kroell presentation with Kristie Ramirez, Texas Monthly’s Fashion Editor. The designer, who got her start in exotic skin handbags, followed by shoes in 2006 and ready-to-wear in 2009, presented at collection with vibrant prints and gleaming fabrics. Think Alice in Wonderland meets Michael Jackson-the designer mentions both as influences in her notes. Loving the signature II pants. As for bags, Kroell has worked neoprine and oragami leather into the mix with the introduction of the “stylist” bag (a great basic). Shoes were high and mighty, in metallics and bright colors (pink & orange). The collection is available in Dallas at Stanley Korshak and they are opening a boutique in Houston soon. Bag Snobs, Tina Craig and Kelly Cook were there too, no doubt spotting a few must-have bags for the season.

Carolina Herrera showed a beautiful and ladylike collection (as always) at the tents this morning. I was running late and almost didn’t get in due to not having my invite in hands and tightened security because of PETA protesters. But, the show must go on and although I didn’t make it to my seat, I ended up standing at the end of the runway and got a great view of the chic collection of dresses, short suits, separates & gowns that were inspired by Japanese baskets and featured many textures and woven details. After the show I chatted with Jackie Miller Stewart (who said she’s here for fun), who attended the show and thought it was the best collection the designer’s ever done!

Spotted Ken Downing at Christian Siriano’s first show at the tents. He was there to check out what the Project Runway alum is up to. Downing arrived in New York this morning directly from a store opening in Seattle (his hometown) and he’ll be attending shows through the last day of NYFW. After a quick stop-over in Dallas to hang with Michael Kors for a CC event, he’s off to Europe. How does he do it all without calapsing? With good doctors, lots of planning, big breakfasts, and by just saying “no” to late-night parties – no matter how much he may want to go.

Erin Wasson showed her collection (Erin Wasson x RVCA) for the first time at the tents last night. Dallasites were there to show their support to the model-turned-designer, including Erin’s family, Jackie Bolin, Elizabeth O’Mahony, Stephanie & John Roberts. The collection featured mostly layed-back looks that you could see Erin wearing herself and many seem to admire her style. We even saw some girls in Spain sporting Wasson-esque looks (loose tanks, short jean shorts, & blazers with rolled up sleeves). Chris Wasson was so proud of her daughter, she could hardly hold back tears of joy after the show. We spotted Bruce Willis with wife, Emma Heming, in the crowd as well as Gossip Girl Taylor Momsen.
