Except that I do NOT look good in a bikini, which means no hot tub scenes for me. Let’s face it: one of the prerequisites for this gig is a hot bod. No one likes to see a fat girl in a hot tub–even if that’s what real women look like! Gentlemen, do not despair. The show’s producers are also looking for suitable suitors. So, this is neither health nor beauty related, but if Rhonda can post about her crushes, I can post about the amazing time I had last night at Shenaniganz, a fun-porium that just popped up in Rockwall. It’s a place for the kiddos and adults and adults who act like kiddos. For example, we (the husband and I) started with dinner at Rozie’s Grill—flank steak with yummy mashed potatoes and perfect thin-crust pepperoni pizza from the wood-burning oven. Adult. Then we moved over to bowling, opting for the family-friendly main lanes as opposed to the private (and swanky) Z Lounge lanes. Kid. But then we had some beers—adult—followed by some arcade games, heart-thumping laser tag deep in the black light-enhanced jungle, more arcade games (had to get that whoopee cushion), then to the Z Lounge, where there are fancy drinks and a list of ales long enough to rival any pub, before we said adieu. Kid, kid, kid, adult. I have to say, it was just plain fun. There was fun in the air. The official grand opening is Wednesday, Dec. 17. Go, and have fun. Unless, of course, you don’t like fun.

She’s one of our favorite girls in this town, because as the owner of Again & Again on Bonita Avenue, she has outfitted many of our homes with fabulously restored vintage furniture, like this chair. Well, Pritchard has opened a new store called Again & Again Modern, just up the street, and she’s having an open house this Saturday, December 13. In the new store you’ll find already refurbished pieces–in case you’re one of those folks who doesn’t have “vision,” and you can’t see the potential in the things at Again & Again–and custom-built pieces. It’s all part of the Starbucks Holiday Campaign, which began November 27 of this year and runs though January 2, 2009. Buy a “(STARBUCKS)RED EXCLUSIVE” drink at participating stores during that time, and the coffee company will contribute five cents to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS. Delicious and generous. Cardigan Party at Anthropologie

On Sunday, December 7, the Anthropologie store at Highland Park Village will host a craft workshop titled “Rework Cardigan Sweaters.” Led by Anthropologie designers and buyers, the workshop is supposed to show customers “how extraordinary and meaningful a hand-crafted, remade gift can be.” Considering the state of some of my old cardigans, that’s a pretty bold statement. There’s room for about 15 to 20 people, and light refreshments will be served.

Big News at Central Market

My first Dallas love, Central Market, is rockin’ and rollin’ these days. First, the new sushi bar (replacing the sandwich counter, across from the ice cream counter) is opening tomorrow. Yum-o (props to Rachael Ray). Second, the much-anticipated Cafe at Central Market is opening on Monday. I’ll be heading to the sneak preview tonight, and my tummy is rumbling just thinking about it. Or is that from all the Halloween candy I’ve been downing all day? Eh, whatev. I’ll give you an update tomorrow.

Isaac Mizrahi Is Coming, Isaac Mizrahi Is Coming!

Uh-oh, Talkers. Our Wednesday-night shopping battle just got more interesting. I just realized that Isaac Mizrahi will be in our neck of the woods tomorrow night signing his new book, How To Have Style. Isaac will be at Legacy Books, that fancy new independent bookstore in the Shops at Legacy, at 7 pm. To get an early spot in line, you can pick up tickets at the store as early as 9 o’clock Wednesday morning. You don’t have to have tickets, but it might keep you from getting stuck at the back of the line sweating over whether or not you’ll make it to the front before Mr. Miz has to dash. I’ve loved Issac ever since he had that show on Oxygen where he was always doing weird stuff with celebrities and sharing screen time with his cute dog Harry. And, of course, his collection for Target was fun, too. So what to do on Wednesday night? Too many choices…
