We just finished telling you why Dallas-based Hari Mari flip flops are worth the purchase (like comfort and earth-friendliness), but we forgot to tell you all about the event tonight at Adeline on Lovers. The timing is perfect as you can reserve one parking space, head across the street to Hemline for some French Connection, pop up at Lou Lou for some Mother’s Day trinkets, and then move on to Adeline, from 6 pm to 9 pm, for the store’s one year anniversary, snacks, delicious sangria (as good as Eppa?), and, wait for it, drum roll… Hari Mari sandals! Remember when we told you all about fibi & clo sandals that just made their way to Big D? Well, the only con is that they’re sold party style or online. But that’s also a pro. Having the blinged-out sandals sold this way allows the owners to keep the prices down near wholesale level. (That’s $45 for flats and $60 for wedges.) Great news, though. You can check them out in person this Monday, April 30 at The Mason Bar, where all specialty cocktails are half-priced for the night. I can think of very little that compares to the joy of meeting the designer who creates the clothing that takes my breath away on the runway. It adds soul to a garment to meet its maker and understand why it was created. That’s why you can’t miss the opportunity to meet designer Jeremy Laing this Thursday night for a welcoming reception at V.O.D. (He’ll be in the store all day Friday, as well.) He’ll be in the boutique with a selection of his spring 2012 RTW pieces up for grabs. The collection is full of  lustrous fabrics, translucent tops and dresses, utilitarian style rompers, and oversized jackets in earthy neutrals. If you’re not brave enough to rock some of the heavy, artistic, geometrical shapes, you can pick apart wearable separates that will enhance your wardrobe for a long time to come. I told you last Valentine’s Day you should get your photo taken by Through the Looking Glass Studios, posed as a pin-up girl. I did. I love my pictures so much I show everyone, including strangers. (What? I looked amazing. Can’t keep that to myself.) I was so smitten with the photographer Shoshana Portnoy, makeup artist Ladonna Stein, and the final product of me looking all cute, coy, and pin-up-y that I’m doing it again for Christmas. I got a taste of the pin-up culture and can’t get enough. That’s why Shoshana turned the photography studio into Dallas Pin Up, a girly shop for all things pin-up in Deep Ellum. Head to the shop with me this Thursday, November 17 to find boutique lines of retro aprons, cocktail dresses, fascinators and other hair accessories, hand made bracelets and necklaces, Bettie Page-inspired heels, tights, garters, lingerie sets, and more.
