But first, let’s talk about the Tootsies Top Blogger 2012 contest. Nine local style bloggers are going head-to-head with outfits hand selected from Tootsies to win bragging rights and a gift card to the store. (It’s less of a battle–unlike Jenna’s Shoe Slam–and more like a shopping love fest as each blogger’s outfit is entirely different.) I’m emceeing the final affair at Tootsies on Thursday, June 28, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. (You just put that in your calendar, didn’t you?) Starting next week (exact day TBA), you’ll be able to head over to Tootsies.com to check out all nine outfits and vote on your favorite.

Okay, folks. Let’s all put on our thinking caps. Leslie Chatman, owner and designer of Luna Teal jewelry, needs help naming her newest creations, and she’s asked for the help of brilliant ShopTalk readers. Help her name the pair of earrings (right), and you’ll win the set of earrings and matching necklace (above), which will have a name similar to the earrings. Details of the gems: sapphire, lemon quartz, and butterscotch pearl with 14k gold fill and vermeil. According to Leslie, “The name should be fun and whimsical.” Past names include Quiet Storm, City Girl Pearls, Pineapple Squared, In the Raw, Pet Rock, and Smolder. Cutesy, sweet, and simple, right? Halloween Costume Contest Happening at the Winspear this Weekend

We live in Dallas, so you know there are lots of ladies who dress up their pets. If you’re one of them, fret not; I’m not making fun. In fact, I’m posting to let you know if you bring your stylish furry friend to the West Village on Halloween day, he or she will be one of the dozens in doggie duds. The entire day is going to be devoted to the four-legged and their costumes. Trick or treating is on the itinerary, as you’ll collect animal treats at shops in the Village. Pet portrait stands and baked dog food vendors will be in the area, too. When you’re exhausted from filling up Rover’s bag with snacks, go listen to some live music, sip on complimentary wine from Cork Wines, and nibble on bites like pizza and canolis from Grimaldi’s. (If you haven’t tried Grimaldi’s and don’t have a dog, pretend you do so you can get in the delicious food. I love Grimaldi’s.) Wondering if there’s a costume contest? Duh. If your little guy’s the winner, you’ll take home a bag full of pet goodies and people goodies. To get in on this action, register your pooch for $15. Your dog is allowed to bring you as a free guest. Proceeds will benefit The Katy Trail. Sunday, Oct. 31, from 2 pm to 5 pm.

Four Legged Fashion and “Champooch” Cocktails this Weekend

This event’s for those of us who adore our pets entirely too much. Four Legged Fashion: Canine Meets Couture, an event put on by Fashion Group International of Dallas, is a furry fashion show-meets-charity event-meets-cocktail party. A doggie runway show kicks off the night with pooches in one-of-a-kind pieces designed by artists from all over the country. Check out the piece, left, designed by Haute Puppy for BitchNewYork.com. Each outfit will then be auctioned off during the evening. Tickets are $75 for general admission, which sounds steep, but considering the following. A portion of the proceeds will go to the three deserving animal rescue groups. (Animal rescue groups often function largely on individual and private donations rather than government or community funding, so a chunk of change from an event like this could be the difference for a lot of animals.) Also, your ticket includes unlimited access to “champooch cocktails” (Cute, right?), all the appetizers you can handle, dessert, and a swag bag. Get your tickets for this Friday, May 14 at 6:30 pm. Free Sunsilk Products and a Hot Celeb Hairdresser Tomorrow

I haven’t heard about Sunsilk in a while. Remember those hair commercials with the voice of the gay Anthony from Sex and the City? Regardless, the inexpensive but worthy line, which is co-created with fashion hair stylist Teddy Charles (who has styled the heads of many runway models and fashion magazine cover girls), is hosting an event here in Dallas tomorrow at Irving Mall to bring the news of its newest collection to the masses. The stop is part of Sunsilk’s “Battle of the Brushes” tour, a styling competition between local talents nationwide. Teddy, who happens to be rather decent looking (see left)—and is probably worth the trip alone—will be there, judging the style-off. The first 50 to arrive will get free Sunsilk products from the line, and one lucky girl will get the full line. All attendees will get a consultation with the team of hair experts. Iriving Mall, Thursday, April 22 at noon.
