Don’t show up in pajamas, but be prepared: browsing the jewels at new boutique Nine-Eighteen feels like shopping from home.
Owners and siblings, Darin Kunz and Kim Burgan, opened the high-end jewelry shop–named for their parents’ wedding date–in an office building on Turtle Creek so that they could create a relationship with each customer rather than relying on heavy foot traffic. The business is focused on creating a relationship with customers that begins with a simple starter piece or celebratory ring and continues for a lifetime.
The Texas temperatures are already hovering around triple digits, and that can only mean one thing for men: uncomfortably warm work attire. But don’t sweat it. Thanks to the careful and considerate designs of Q Custom Clothier, the Lean & Light collection is made specifically for the extreme summer heat. I spoke with Q’s founder and president, Raja Ratan, to get the scoop on this lightweight design.
“We have some really summer oriented silk, linen, and wool blends that are more conducive for summer,” Raja says. “They’re lighter weight, breathe better, and have a softer construction with almost no shoulder padding and half the lining.”
Even though the construction might seem a little more casual than a classically constructed sport coat, Raja insists they’re still appropriate for the office with a pair of trousers. Pair the Lean & Light sport coats with jeans for a weekend stroll or khakis for a casual summer wedding to get the most out of the versatile collection. With several hundred fabric choices, there are no limitations to the color or print of the coat. Q Custom Clothier caters to its customers by scheduling appointments as well as welcoming walk-ins to create bespoke designs that are perfect for any Dallas man.

I’ve been going over that in my head for a couple months. My boyfriend’s got a heinous stash of old suit odds and ends, and they’re not cutting it. But April’s issue of D, out now, has a beautiful bouquet of solutions. Not only is there a list of the best custom clothiers in town, but also descriptions of each one’s strengths (like classic looks, bespoke garments, or high fashion), and a price range you can expect. If you could care less what your gent’s sporting, don’t worry. There are custom suit and dress makers for you, girls, perfect for getting you ready for the season’s upcoming benefits, galas, cocktail parties, and more. Take a look.
