Put On Your Holiday Face With These 5 Festive Party Looks

You want to get in the holiday spirit? (I’m not quite there yet myself.) Start planning your holiday party face. This week, we’ve got five local makeup artists who are sharing their favorite festive makeup looks and the must-have tools. I’ve worked with or experienced first-hand the talent of each one of these beauty gurus, and I’m thrilled with each of the final selections. First up, a smoky eye with bold brows and a dark lip. You’ll want to change your facial expression (“menacing” doesn’t say “holiday cheer”), but I love a good dark lip for winter.

The Artist: Kate Conkey, freelance makeup artist
The Look: “Tarnished Gilded Glamour,” a sexy, slightly smudgy gold-green smoky eye, strong sleek brow, dewy skin, super contoured cheek bones, and a mahogany plum stained lip.

The Top Tools:
1. MAC Eye Kohl pencils in Tarnish and Powersurge
2. Susan Posnick ColorMe cheek and eye color in Ginger
3. Chanel Vitalumière Foundation

Dallas Holiday Gift Gift: The Best Gift for Your High-Tech Grandma

ShopTalk intern Margaux Anbouba landed a fun find at The Gypsy Wagon, which is no surprise. It’s one of my all-time favorite gift shops. Everything is whimsical and “aw”-inducing.

Enter: these Consuela Slip-In Covers for iPads, Nooks, Kindles, Tablets, and probably even the new Microsoft Surface with those creepy dancing schoolgirls. They’re easy to use and come in granny chic prints for actual grannies, or, anyone into the look. The Gypsy Wagon, $58.

Pencil This In: Sussie’s Annual Holiday Bash

The holidays are here, which means cooler weather, lots of shopping for those on your nice list, and hopefully a holiday party or two. Whether you’re shopping for yourself or looking for a gift, you should add Sussie’s Annual Holiday Bash to your list of places to stop for a few reasons:

1. The clothing includes some of our favorite lines, like Milly, Haute Hippie, Trina Turk.
2. The in-house shoe boutique, El’s Stilettos.
3. Sussie’s owner Rory Boyd just told me that purchases will be tax free all day.
4. Every $50 you spend, you’ll get you an entry into their raffle, where you could win prizes like a handbag, coat, or Sussie’s gift card.

Need another reason to stop by Sussie’s next Thursday? They will be serving up light bites cocktails all day long.
