Do The Do. (The Do Hair Salon, That Is)

If you didn’t take a leap of faith and make an appointment at The Do Cut & Color new hair salon in Preston Center after I went on and on about it, that’s okay. There’ s another opportunity to check them out. Along with sponsors OK Magazine and Wella haircare, they’re throwing a grand opening party on Thursday, May 17 from 7 pm to 9 pm. I highly recommend hitting up this cozy salon for free style consultations, hair tips and tricks, complimentary hors d’oeuvres, organic beer and sangria, goodie bags to take home, and 20 percent off card for a future appointment. RSVP to get on the list at thedo@okmagazine.com. Thursday, May 17 from 7 pm to 9 pm.

Leave it to Forty Five Ten to Make Bicycling Chic

Villy Custom Purple Plush Bicycle

If you are far too sophisticated to down tequila shots in a sombrero this Saturday (I am skipping down to do some classy canoeing), then you’ll want to head instead to Forty Five Ten for “Cruiser Day.” An assortment of about 25 Villy Customs Bicycles will be available for purchase on the patio. The local brand of made-to-order bikes are super hip and fat-tired for leisurely pedaling around town. If you’re looking to make a statement and your jewelry isn’t cutting it, try one of these on for size.  If you don’t see the perfect fit from the available selection, design your own. The staff will be taking custom orders. If you know my affection for purple, it won’t surprise you that I’m in love with this “Purple Plush” bicycle, right. Everything can tailored from the style of the handlebars down to the color of the tires. Don’t miss out. Saturday, May 5 from 11 am to 5 pm.
