If you haven’t had the opportunity to make it to a fashion show for our local designers, you are missing out. Don’t think back to your dorky home ec days, when you learned to sew heinous pillow cases. The local scene is the real deal: high fashion, couture creations, and quality garments. (Take a look at Abi Ferrin and Nha Khanh, for example.) Saturday, November 12 marks your next opportunity to catch some Big D talent sent their wares down the catwalk. The star of the show is former Project Runway contestant Korto Momolu’s spring 2012 collection, but you’ll find styles from regional designers Megan McKinney, Candace Locke, Andre Terri, and more. You might not know their names now, but you soon might. (And wouldn’t it be great to say ,’I saw so-and-so’s first runway show?’) Proceeds from this event benefit Genesis Women’s Shelter, a first rate nonprofit serving women and children suffering from domestic violence. We have two sets of preferred seating tickets (the extra special, up close ones that come with a swag bag) to give away to this show. (I’ll be in attendance, too!) Enter here to win your pair. If you don’t score with us, do not despair. Buy your tickets here or at the door Nov. 12.
