Topz Burgers – Can Healthy Really Be Delicious? Yes, It Can!

topzWe wrote about Topz burgers in D Beauty about a year ago. Click here to read it. Go ahead. I’ll wait. (Insert the Final Jeopardy question music here.)

Done? Ok. So I went there today and was even more impressed with the quality of my lunch than I was on my first visit. You see, I have been trying to avoid cheese in the hopes that my winter gut will deflate enough so that I can wear a bikini without shame this summer (wish me luck). To that end, I ordered my turkey burger without that delicious calorie culprit. I was fearful it would be so bland that I’d be left feeling deprived but as I sunk my teeth through the soft wheat bun into a tender, flavorful patty all my fears were allayed. It was really good! So good in fact, that I think I inhaled it in record time. (Thank God I was in my car where  no one could witness the feeding frenzy.) My only wish is that Topz was closer to our office so I could get my guilt-free burger fix more often but you can rest assured that anytime I am near Addison I will work a Topz stop into my schedule. Hint: Don’t miss the sweet potato Aero (non-fried) fries. Just a little salt and they’re delicious as can be.

I’m sorry, but when it comes to burgers that are supposed to be, “GOOD FOR YOU”, unless your burger is made of meat from, GRASS FED, Angus, or Texas Longhorn beef or, bison, Your burger is not necessarily, “good for you”. Conventional, grain fed beef raised organically without hormones or antibiotics may be considered, “healthy” but, it’s still not, “good for you”
Grass fed beef is actually, GOOD FOR YOU! Leaner and high in Omega 3 fats, it WILL do your body good.

Thanks for the info Twinwillo! What I was trying to say (perhaps unsuccessfully) is that Topz is definitely better than fast food burgers which are known to contain all kinds of fillers and chemicals. Topz uses no trans-fats or deep-fryers. So when I’m craving something bad like a Big Mac and artery clogging fries, Topz is an excellent alternative.

Sounds like a great alternative to the amazingly bad-for-you-but-delicious fried options out there.

twin – you’re on the right track, but breed (i.e., angus or longhorn) isn’t really related to healthfulness of the beef that’s produced. your best beef option, without regard to breed, is grass-fed, grass-finished (important b/c this is the part that keeps it out of a feed lot) beef raised on chemical-free pastures with no prophylactic antibiotics or hormones.

maybe topz will jump on board and make a great concept an ever better product.

I think yall missed the “turkey burger” part of the story… that would be the healthy part I am assuming.

Twinwillow – if you are so worried about being healthy – why are you eating meat at all? Any beef – no matter what it is fed is good for you…
Thank you Kristin for the healthy hamburger info!

just because it’s a “turkey burger” doesn’t mean it’s healthy. It can be just as high calorie as a hamburger. And the empty carbs of “wheat” buns and maybe not empty but still starchy carbs of sweet potatoes aren’t going to help you fit into a bikini either. You’d be better off just eating two beef patties.

I meant to type that no beef is good for you. I accidentally wrote good for you.

Well folks, we could debate this forever. The point is, we all just do the best we can and make our decisons based on what works for us. I just wanted to let readers know that if they wanted an alternative this was a good one. Thanks to everyone for your tips and info!
