From Book to Perfume: foreverlily

foreverlilyInspired by Beth Nonte Russell’s book, Forever Lily, comes the perfume, foreverlily. The book is a memoir about Russell’s adoption of her daughter from China. Intimate moments in the author’s life and book inspired the notes that can be found in this perfume: an Oriental blend of clove, lemon, and lychee, fig, stargazer lily, cedarwood, vanilla, amber, and sandalwood. This fragrance is the first line in Russell’s company, GoodTrueBeautiful, Inc., a lifestyle brand, which, in the future, seeks to include meditation CDs and jewelry. Ten percent of all GoodTrueBeautiful purchases will go to the Golden Phoenix Foundation, whose mission is to end child abandonment around the world. For me, when I look for a new perfume, I want one with a lot of heart and an inspired mix. I haven’t smelled foreverlily myself, but it sounds like it’s got a lot of heart to me. Find it at Instyle Beauty Supply & Salon. 9005 Garland Rd. 214-660-1447.

TV With Laura: The Bachelorette Starts Tonight

The ABC juggernaut returns tonight, and I’ll be watching. I love the first episode of The Bachelorette–no helicopters, no ridiculous dates, very little chance of a hot tub encounter, and (hopefully)  no one will say, “I’m here for you.” Yet. Just drunk people vying for attention. It’s the best! Meet me here tomorrow, and let’s dish about the Dallas dudes, the awful lines, and whether or not Jillian’s voice has worn us out yet.

Meet Katydid Designer Katy Messersmith Wednesday, May 20, at Jenny on the Block in Snider Plaza

katydidRhonda first blogged about the Katydid line of funky tees, coverups and accessories here. Now, you can meet the local designer, Katy Messersmith, in person on Wednesday, May 20 at Jenny on the Block in Snider Plaza. From noon until 3pm she’ll be showcasing her 2009 spring/summer designs for women and children. Trunk shows are fantastic because they feature all or most of the line’s pieces, so you’ll have more to choose from than ever before. Stores usually only carry a limited selection but trunk shows allow the designer to bring in as much as they want, whether the store has ever carried it before or not. So head over there for “sips and sweets” and a chance to score some great Katydid duds!
