We’ve been a fan of local jewelry designer, Amanda Sterett since she debuted her line of stylish handmade gems in 2004. We’ve featured her in our magazine a few times along the way. It was only a matter of time before her beautiful baubles caught the eyes of national retailers such as Kate Spade and Anthropologie (word is that they will be carrying her designs soon). The Dallas designer’s “Courtney” hoop is currently featured in the current issue of InStyle magazine (as seen at left-top right). Congrats Amanda! Be sure to check out her collection locally at Melanie Gayle, The Shak, and Sussie’s.
Remember tonight is first Thursday – that means that Dragon Street is open until 8. It is such a great urban experience to ditch the car and just walk in and out of art galleries, antique stores, and showrooms. I hate to miss it but I’m having what could end up being a wild night with George Nash and some of the crazier editors here at the magazine. He’s coming to check out the mess at my new house and hopefully add some much needed advice, and the editors are coming to add a little spice to the evening. Hmm, George Nash and Laura Kostelny could be dangerous. Be sure and check out Lance Letscher’s new work at Conduit Gallery on Hi Line.
Net-a-porter’s recently launched discount site, the Outnet – that we told you about back in March – has Dallas designer, Lela Rose’s girly garb on sale for 60%-80% off. Check out the slection of classic frocks (perfect for all those weddings you have to attend this season) and pretty blouses you can wear for work or play.
Who minds turning 50 as long as you are surrounded by pink? Fifty years ago, New York socialite Lilly Pulitzer began making colorful shift dresses that were comfy and bright to camouflage stains from her juice stand business in Palm Beach. Lilly was a woman who walked to her own drummer, even in the wild ’60’s. We devoured her dresses when I was in college in the late (late, late) ’70’s along with Dr. Scholls. Lilly’s company flourishes today with her bright, fun, at-play clothing line for women, men and children. The NorthPark Lilly Pulitzer store celebrates Lilly’s anniversary all day today, with this crazy psychedelic jeep, food, drinks, ten mannequins sporting vintage looks, pink carpets and banners and many chances to win anything Lilly P. They will toast off the day with a fashion and cocktail party from 5 to 7 pm. If you love Lilly Pulitzer, do stop by and see the vintage dresses. Jump for the release… wonder what the price tag is on that jeep?
