Folk Art Market – Saving the World One Bracelet at a Time

I would like to save the world but I’m also lazy.  And rather selfish, so if I save the world I just hope there’s something in it for me.  So I’m totally psyched about the Folk Art Market in Santa Fe in July. In 2 days in July, about 150 artists from around the world, some who have never left their village in -  pick any 3rd world country – sell over 2 million dollars and take 90% of it home with them.  That’s how schools are built in Afghanistan, that’s how children have medicine in Uzbekistan.  This is a highly vetted (you have to be really good) show, and  I saw examples of hundreds of things I want for my house – or my closet, or how about wear right now.  And, some of the stories moved me beyond belief. Daired’s Salon and Spa Pangea Need Some Love

I know times are tough right now but just in case you had planned on getting some kind of salon or spa service in the next few months, you might want to book it at  Daireds Salon and Spa Pangea (DSSP), a D Beauty favorite. A few weeks ago an electrical fire caused extensive structural damage at their facility. Repairs will take about nine months to complete so in the meantime DSSP has set up two temporary locations opening today with two more on the way. Owner, Daired Ogle says, “We feel a real sense of urgency to begin serving our guests who have been so loyal and helped build our business. We currently employee approximately 100 staff members and have been able to return 90% of our workforce to daily operations. The temporary locations may not have the same ambiance, but will offer the same great service and expert staff that guests are accustomed to as part of the Daireds experience. According to Women’s Wear Daily, net-a-porter.com, one of our favorite places to find designer duds, will be launching a lower-price site next month called theOutnet.com. On it they will sell “seasonless” clothes, accessories, lingerie and swimwear. The more than 200 brands being offered will include Christian Louboutin, Alberta Ferretti, Chloe, Oscar de la Renta, Diane von Furstenberg and Herve Leger as well as smaller labels like Temperley London.
