Back to the Basics: Kiehl’s Essence Oils

Perfumes these days are complicated things. There are top notes, middle notes, base notes, and accompanying descriptions that make buyers dizzy. They use words like “mouth-watering,” “playful,” “sexy,” and “exotic.” Sadly, most perfumes seem to come out of the bottle smelling the exact same as the rest…like…perfume—not a playful blend of citrus fruits with a hint of spicy leather like the description claims. Kiehl’s knew it was time to get back to the basics, so they relaunched their Essence Oils. Specifically, Musk 1921, Coriander 1946, Vanilla 1968, and Grapefruit 1976. (The number is the year in which each scent was formulated.) The oils are highly concentrated and easy to use with the roller ball. Get yours at Kiehl’s, 80 Highland Park Village or www.kiehls.com.
