Hilton Anatole Gym Gets A Makeover

The Hilton Anatole Hotel today announced the grand reopening of its massive fitness center, the Verandah Club. The 80,000-square-foot private fitness club boasts $340,000 worth of new equipment, including treadmills, bikes, step machines, and elliptical trainers—all equipped with LCD TV monitors. (Get a glimpse of that workout room. I feel skinnier just looking at it!) Learn more about the club here. And look for a new spa opening later in the year.

Ooh, Ostrich!

I posted an earlier blog about Carnce’s amazing horn bag and I had to write again about his new ostrich clutch which is getting rave reviews. It comes in black or tan and is perfect for upcoming holiday parties when your giant Louis Vuitton just won’t cut it. And at just $200 it’s a steal!

Kiehl’s and Brad Pitt Heart the Environment

Seems like every day I get a press release about some business going green or a fabulous new organic and environmentally responsible product I have to try. So you can imagine my green fatigue. That said, I perked up when I saw the news that Kiehl’s is partnering with hunky Brad Pitt to launch Aloe Vera Biodegradable Liquid Body Cleanser. One hundred percent of the proceeds from sales benefit JPF Eco Systems, a charity created by Pitt and Kiehl’s to support global environmental initiatives. Kiehl’s expects to raise a whopping $1 million. Now that is something worth writing about–as is the news that Aloe Vera Biodegradable Liquid Body Cleanser is the first entire product to be certified Cradle to Cradle (C2C), which means everything from ingredients to packaging has been formulated for minimal environmental impact. (BTW, if you want to learn more about C2C, read about founder William McDonough in Vanity Fair.) Pick up a bottle at Kiehl’s in Highland Park Village–and feel great about it.

Chat It Up With Everyone’s Favorite Sex Writer

Author Candace Bushnell, the woman who introduced us to Carrie Bradshaw and her Sex and the City brethren, has a new book coming out. And, coincidentally, she’ll be in our neck of the woods in a couple of weeks for a talk, interview, and reading presented by The Writer’s Garrett. Bushnell’s appearance, which will be hosted by longtime local writer and editor Catherine Cuellar, is October 2 at 7:30 pm at the Eisemann Center in Richardson. Buy tickets here. You can also learn more about the new book, One Fifth Avenue, here. Looks fun, for sure, but can anything trump the mega-popular Sex? Probably not. But speaking of Sex, I just watched one of my favorite episodes last night. It’s the one where the girls go to L.A. and Carrie meets a scoundrel played by Vince Vaughn. I love Vince. And I love Carrie. And I really love that lightning bolt necklace she wears with her white shorts! (Here’s a clip from that episode. Apologies for the Spanish.)

Jewelry+Champagne+Facials=Good Time on October 10

We first introduced you to Adriana Carador on ShopTalk about a month ago. Well, I have more info on that trunk show. Turns out it’s being held at SkinSpaMed–which happens to be owned by Marie Reyes, one of our finalists for D Beauty’s 10 Most Beautiful Women in Dallas. So in addition to fabulous bling, you can sip some bubbly and have a facial, too. (God I love being a girl.) Gather your girlfriends at head out to North Dallas on October 10, from 1-5 pm. You won’t regret it.

Jessica Simpson’s Coming to Dallas October 18

So you know our girl has launched a new fragrance, Fancy, because we reported that here. (And ShopTalker Christina Perry was the lucky winner of a bottle, thanks to our Friday Giveaway!) Anyhoo, Jessica is making a personal appearance at Dillard’s NorthPark on October 18, from 2-4 pm, to promote her perfume. Pop in, pick up some eau du parfum, get your pic snapped with Dallas’ most famous blonde, and then pour some much-needed money into the Dallas economy by shopping the rest of NP.

The Boardroom Salon Now Open in Allen

This is just the sort of news we like to hear: in a down economy, folks are still opening businesses! The Boardroom Salon for Men first opened in Southlake in 2004 and now has locations in Inwood Village, Highland Village, and Allen, in the Watters Creek Shopping Center. The Boardroom is known as the ultimate men’s salon, offering everything from hair services to hot lather shaves to hand and foot grooming. Grand opening festivities in Allen take place Thursday, September 25, from 4:30-8:30 pm. Stop by for munchies, cocktails, and complimentary spa services, plus the chance to win prizes such as custom-tailored shirts and golf passes. Ladies, this is your chance to get your man out of the house–and introduce him to the mani/pedi. They try to fight it, but you know they love it.

ShopTalk is a daily discussion among the D Magazine and D Beauty editors about the Dallas fashion and beauty scene. Think of it as an online coffee klatsch, with virtual coffee served. We girls like to gab about the latest beauty products, insider shopping tips, health and fitness trends, style tips--essentially everything the in-style, on-the-go Dallas girl must know to keep up appearances.
