I was talking to a friend of mine at lunch, and I asked her if she would read a magazine article about bad dates, and she said, “Totally!” (And then she mentioned that she had a few to contribute.) So I’m asking you, ShopTalkers: ever had a bad date? I mean the kind where the guy shows up with his kid (and you didn’t know he had one) or takes his teeth out at the table during dinner. If I get enough good ones–and I’m sure I will–we’ll publish them in an upcoming issue of D Beauty. I can’t wait! Let me hear from you.
When I received Cosmedicine’s Instant Wrinkle Write Off in the mail the other day, I was so excited. I love, love, love wrinkle remedies! I’ll try anything. Once. So this line filler was right up my alley. It’s a click-and-twist pen that’s supposed to even out your complexion and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. All you have to do is sweep the pen tip over the lines you’d like to minimize. I haven’t tried it on my face yet, but a quick test on the crevices across my knuckles gave me high hopes. The filler goes on wet, then dries, creating an instant airbrushed effect. It leaves a powdery residue, though, so you have to deal with that, but otherwise it’s a pretty decent temporary fix. The key word is “temporary,” but, hey, I’ll take what I can get. Buy it online or at Sephora.
BeingTrue Sheer Lip Shine. Oh. My. Gosh. A while back, I told you a bit about their products. But I’ve given it more time, and I’m even more in love with the lip gloss now. This gloss looks good. The colors are sheer, but stay put all day long. And even better, the gloss feels good because of the peppermint oil and conditioners. For those of who deal with chapped or dry lips, this is a miracle gloss. (Totally worth the $16 price tag.) The Spa at The Ritz-Carlton at 2121 McKinney Ave. or www.truecosmetics.com.
Everybody’s buzzing about the King Tut exhibit coming to the Dallas Museum of Art this fall, and The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas is getting in on the action. Beginning October 3 and running through May 17, The Ritz is offering a couple of VIP packages designed to make your Tut-viewing experience extra special. For the pretty reasonable price of $349 and up, the King Tut Package includes an overnight stay in a Deluxe Guestroom or Suite, two VIP tickets to the exhibit, breakfast for two at Fearing’s, an Egyptian-themed pastry to welcome you to the hotel, and overnight valet parking. Not bad, not bad. But if you happen to have $60,000 burning a hole in your pocket, you’ll want to check out the Live Like a Pharaoh Package. It’s way better than this one. Jump to see what 60 grand will get you.
It’s the last official weekend of summer. For some of you, it’s probably already begun. Have fun. Enjoy it. Indulge in all the delights of your backyard barbecue. Make your motto, “Yes, I’ll have another.” Why? Because Monday is FREE YOGA DAY! Check here for class schedules, and try out a new studio, instructor, or style. DFW is your studio. Lay down your mat.
Ladies, send me an e-mail (click on my name below), rather than leave a comment. It’s easier for me to track the entries that way. XO!
Have any of you noticed that Avon has gone celebrity? I admit I have never tried the products, nor do I know anyone who uses them. (If you have, ShopTalkers, I want to know about it!) But Avon is sexing up its image. With celebrities such as global ambassador Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Hudson, and Patrick Dempsey (his fragrance, Unscripted, launches in November 2008) in cahoots with the direct marketing beauty brand, the future (hopefully) looks bright. All I know is I just received a calendar-size press kit with Patrick Demsey’s mug staring right at me. If only I had a locker to put up these pictures! (Ah, to be in sixth grade again.) How is it that this man keeps getting more smokin’ hot with age?
Well, all you Sephora-loving Collin County dwellers, I have some not-so-great news. The store we told you about earlier this week has pushed back its opening to September 26. That means you have to wait two extra weeks before you can sweep a gazillion NARS lipstick samples across your hand and get loopy head from the walls of fragrances.
Good morning, ShopTalkers! As I reported a few weeks ago, hometown girl Jessica Simpson has launched an über-feminine fragrance called Fancy, and I have sitting on the desk in front of me a brand-new, full-size bottle of the eau de parfum, which I don’t think has even hit stores! (Well, maybe it’ll be there this weekend.) So you can be one of the first to try it. You know the drill: I’ll accept entries all day, and the winner will be notified on Tuesday, September 3, after the holiday.
