In the current issue of D Magazine, I wrote about shopping in Dallas with Irving-born supermodel, Erin Wasson. We discuss her career and the various things she has going on including staring alongside Justin Timberlake in the upcoming William Rast (Justin’s clothing line) online campaign for the fall line. During our shopping trip Wasson was actually sporting a black foot boot because she was still recovering from an injury that she got while shooting the the series of short internet movies called “My Name is William Rast”. Justin plays William Rast, a rebel on the run, and Wasson plays his lover, Birdie. Think: modern day Bonnie and Clyde, only these two are much better looking. Clips have just been released. Check them out here and here.
I’m glad to see Stephanie is on board the mascara train! I too have tried out another one and really like it - Lash Injection Poinpoint by Too Faced. It gave me just what I’m seeking long, separated, lush lashes. It’s a Sephora exclusive so you can only buy it at one of their stores or on their web site. Who knew there were so many good mascaras out there! Let us know if you have any favorites!
Good news for all of you bathing beauties out there. Renowned luxe apothecary, LAFCO (luxury articles and fragrance company) New York, is set to open in October at Highland Park Village. They will stock all European imports including the famed line Santa Maria Novella, made by the most prestigious and oldest pharmacy in the world. To read more about the new addition and see what Jon Bresler, owner and founder of LAFCO New York has this to say about coming to Dallas, follow the jump. (more…)
When I saw that Rhonda was too chicken to try the new eos shaving cream dry I decided I to take one for the team and be the guinea pig. So last night, with my leg perched up on the bathroom counter I gave it a go. And it worked! The only thing is that you still need water to rinse off the razor so I’m not sure I get the point of being able to do it dry but I guess if you’re out in the middle of the desert and you can’t take your hairy legs any longer and you remembered to bring the eos with you then it’s perfect! Regardless, I agree with Rhonda that this is a product worth trying.

You knew this was coming: a customizable yoga mat–and it’s sustainable too! Yogamatic mats are made from biodegradable TPE, or Thermo Plastic Elastima, which doesn’t contain latex, rubber, or toxic materials. Plus, they’re pretty. You can pick from a gallery of artwork or upload your own image. The compostable mats are printed with water-soluble ink, and 5% of profits from each mat sold benefit Global Green. Celebrity fans include Kate Bosworth, Molly Sims, and Kate Hudson–so you can improve your health and well-being, help save the planet, and act like a celeb doing it. Namaste.
Collin County girls, here’s some news for you. On September 12, a new Sephora will open in Allen at Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm. The 5,800-square-foot store will stock more than 13,000 products from more than 200 brands. And as an added bonus, if you shop on opening day, Sephora will donate a portion of those first-day sales to the Collin County Children’s Advocacy Center.
One could argue that, as editors of a beauty magazine, we are guilty of perpetuating an unattainable standard of beauty, although I’d like to think we are more realistic in the way we portray women, because, hey, we are about as “regular” as they come. That said, I am excited to see this new film, America the Beautiful, which opens September 5 at the Angelika Film Center. Filmmaker Darryl Roberts asks the all-important question: is America’s obsession with beauty unhealthy? (Um, yes!) Let me know what you think after you see it.
NorthPark has done it again, this time with a Roberto Cavalli boutique, coming in October 2008. Say the powers that be (read: PR): “Inspired by a glamorous and free-spirited sensibility, the store embodies the modern elegance of the Cavalli world and sets a new standard for the innovative use of materials and design.” Expect to find women’s ready-to-wear, accessories, and eyewear collections, plus a 250-square-foot VIP section with velvet-covered wall. (Something tells me the only way I’ll see the VIP area is if I’m invited on a press tour.) The grand opening of the Roberto Cavalli boutique will coincide with this year’s Fashion at the Park. On October 10, Dallas gets its own runway show, a replica of the fall/winter show in New York, and Roberto Cavalli will be in attendance.
Hey, Sarah. I’ve tried the MBT shoes, and while I could definitely tell a difference in my legs while I walked–there is something about the rounded bottoms that makes you work a little harder to stay balanced, so you truly feel like you are getting a good workout–the sneakers tore up my ankles! I had the worst blisters! I kept thinking (praying?) I would break them in, but I never did, so I can’t say that my cellulite was reduced, although with enough exercise of any form, you’re going to reduce the cellulite on your legs. (Funny how that works.) I would definitely try those FitFlops, because without a back, they can’t give me blisters! I would really love a pair to wear while I hit the pavement in New York for Bridal Market in October.
