Perhaps there are more pressing issues to discuss when speaking of this week’s Democratic National Convention in Denver (this? this? this?), but we’re a beauty blog. Let’s talk shop.
I know what you’re thinking: “Man, Katie. There are so many great Obama t-shirts out there, how can I be sure to choose one that will stand the test of time? The one that my kids will want to wear in 20 years. The one that’ll prove I was cool in 2008 and I’m still cool now.” I have your answer right here. Notice the bold use of color and the clean, graphic lines. So Miami Vice. So hot right now.
Think you have a solid dem. t-shirt find? Let me know in the comments.

I just hopped over to Lover’s Lane to check out Hemline, a new boutique just down the block from Lou Lou and Mine, and across from Elements. It’s owned by two sisters, Ashley Williams and Kelly Hall. I liked what I saw from designers like Kensie, Nicole Miller, Twelfth Street, Free People and Chinese Laundry. Pieces range from cocktail dresses to jeans with everything in between, including shoes. I saw some really pretty dresses that I haven’t seen elsewhere. Price points vary from “doable” to “I wish I had that kind of money.” They have only been open since June but are already having a sale to make room for the fall lines which should be in store in the next few weeks.
A very well-informed Talker tells me the Judith Ripka store in Highland Park Village will be opening this very Thursday. From the looks of the website, it is going to be a gorgeous store, and just another place to spend our money in HPV…
For the next three days, we’ll be interviewing semi-finalists for D Beauty’s 10 Most Beautiful Women in Dallas. Twenty-six lucky ladies will be chatting with us, and you’ll get to see the results of the interviews when you come back and vote two weeks from today. (Video clips will be posted online, along with a photo of each.) By then we will have narrowed down the list of finalists to 20, and the 10 Most Beautiful Women in Dallas for 2009 will appear in the winter 09 issue of D Beauty, on newsstands December 11.
Rhonda, I like the way you think. But on one condition: if somehow we squeeze a bit about Poo~Pourri in there. You know, so you don’t offend your bridesmaids on your big day.
A new brand called eos, the evolution of smooth, has debuted a shave cream that promises to moisturize skin and leave legs smooth long after shaving, even eliminate the need for a post-shave moisturizer. I gotta say I was a little skeptical about these claims. Other products I’ve used have made similar promises but never seem to deliver. This time, though, I was pleasantly surprised. After trying it out, I must admit that eos lives up to its hype. Containing natural aloe, oat, and shea butter, the non-foaming cream definitely left my skin softer than my old shave gel. I’m not sure if everyone could get away with not using an extra moisturizer, but it worked for me. I also like that it comes in a rust-free plastic bottle. There is one claim, however, that I didn’t test: eos says the ultra moisturizing shave cream can be used wet or dry. Am I skeptical? Yep, you guessed it, but I’ve been proven wrong before. Find eos here or locally at my favorite retail establishment on earth, Target.
We’re a few days late with this news, but CMT has announced that the reality show Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders: Making the Team will return for a third season beginning October 4. Also returning will be DCC fitness trainer Jay Johnson, who’s famous for his Boot Camp Fitness Program. In related news, according to this story, Making the Team will follow My Big Redneck Wedding, which will air Saturdays at 8 p.m. this fall. Jennifer, I don’t know about you, but I smell a D Weddings feature. Maybe with a sidebar on duct tape. No? Yeah, you’re probably right.
